The Butler women’s soccer team started off the year with a disappointing 1-2 record. They have been undefeated ever since then winning four straight games on the road.

The team then went into the zone as they shutout Coffeyville, 6-0. Butler scored three goals each half as they limited the Red Ravens shots on goal to just one (two shots overall).

Sophomore Lexi Clark and freshman Caro Limon both scored two goals apiece in the dominant victory. The six goals that were scored by Butler were the most since a 7-0 win last season on Oct. 23, 2015 over Kansas City, Kan.

If that wasn’t enough, Butler then went and beat Allen County 11-2 the next game. By halftime, the score was 6-0 as they were shutting out Allen, as they did Coffeyville.

The Grizzlies had two players who recorded hat tricks in the game, sophomores Lauren Allen and Colleen Howland. Allen remarkably scored all of her goals in the last 45 minutes of the game. Four different players scored for Butler as they absolutely bulldozed Allen County. The team was on a roll going into the next game against No. 3 Tyler (Texas) in Tonkawa, Okla.

Butler has had quite a tough schedule so far this season as they lost a nailbiter to the No. 1 team in the nation just a few weeks ago.

Now they face the No. 3 team in Tonkawa as the Grizzlies sit at No. 2, and what a game it was.

Sophomore Jami Reichenberger had 11 saves to boost Butler to a 3-2 win in Oklahoma. Howland had a pair of goals as Kennedy Weaver scored as well. O’Shay Nelson and Carlota Suarez were the contributors on offense for Tyler. Butler was also outmatched 7-1 in corner kicks, yet they still persevered and pulled out the win.

Reichenberger’s previous game-high in saves was nine, which came in the NJCAA semifinal loss last November against Iowa Central.

“I ask my team ‘what’s your sense of accomplishment after wins?’ whether against strong opponents or not given us adversity and a sense of accomplishment can be uplifting to our team either way,” Head Coach Adam Hunter said. “And because we are on the road, it solidifies our team as a group.”

After all the long road trips Hunter is looking forward to playing at home.

“I wouldn’t want to be Cowley on Friday night,” Hunter said.

Coming of an impressive win, Butler then went on to play Rose State (Oklahoma) College. Butler shut yet another team out as they improved to 5-2 on this young season.

Allen was a player to watch again in this game as she scored the lone goal of the contest. Rose State was held to just three shots on goal compared to Butler’s seven. Though the offense wasn’t in full action that night, they still managed to rack up a win to add to the streak. These wins have not been easy either, as all seven of their games have been on the road. Butler still sits at No. 2 in the nation, and this team is looking like it. Keep an eye out for this women’s soccer team as they are on the prowl looking to continue their win streak.
