Butler Community College hosted its 20th Walnut River Water Festival on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Butler County fourth graders including Skelly Elementary, Lincoln Elementary of Augusta and Garfield Elementary came to learn about water conservation. Classrooms in the 1500 Building were transformed into centers that focused on many activities following the Waterfest theme. Some of which included “H2O Olympics,” “Tree Cookies” and “Painting with Soil.” Butler biology students volunteered at this event alongside members of the B.E.S.T. program, Butler and Emporia students to teachers.
“It was exciting to see how enthusiastic the fourth graders were to learn about the importance of water,” Volunteer Dom Brown said.
