Students should favor getting a head start rather than interaction

Going to college is seen as a rite of passage; it’s something that, for the most part, is available for anyone to experience. Being on your own, being responsible for everything you do and the unlimited freedom is a really good aspect of college, however, there is one thing that stands in your way… classes.
Missing classes is easy, like really easy. It only takes waking up five minutes late to decide it’s not worth the time to walk two minutes from your dorm room to class. “So what?,” you may be asking. “Everyone misses classes.” You know what? you’re totally right. Heck, I’ve missed several classes this semester and I’m still passing, but the best way to guarantee passing is to go to every class. While not impossible, it is very difficult with oversleeping and sickness. “Well, Tyler, if it is so difficult than how do I make my life easier?”
Well, I’ll tell you my secret: online classes. Now, hold up. Wait don’t skip this article just yet. Everyone you ever talk to about an online class will give it a bad rap, and the fact that all the commercials for online classes show older people who don’t have time to go to actual classes. “Well I have time for classes, I’m a full-time student.” I would say, yeah, a full-time student who was dropped from a class for being “sick” too much. Online classes get a bad rap when it comes to teacher-student interaction. Honestly most people who have had bad online experiences are the ones that got lazy halfway through the course and stopped doing the assignments. If you’re on top of your assignments and you do all of your stuff online, you have no reason to worry.
You also have the opportunity to take extra classes in an online environment. As a full-time student at Butler, I am trying to work my way to a four-year school. What better way to guarantee it than picking up some better classes on the side to easily cheapen the amount of money you have to pay for at a school like KSU or KU. This makes online classes very valuable to me. Online classes also allow you to keep your mind refreshed during the summer break. Taking one class over the summer online widens the options of classes that you have here for a much cheaper price.
While for most, online classes can be seen as a hassle at first glance. However with a second look, online classes could be the break out point for you and your classes here at Butler.
