The Grizzlies make Pirates sink

With a 17-5 record, the Butler women’s basketball team took home another win on Saturday, Feb. 4 against the Independence Pirates. With the Grizzlies dominated by a huge margin, 55-37. This would make it five straight for the women’s, and they already had a previous five game win streak earlier in the season. Butler jumped to a 13-0 lead early in the game before Independence finally scored after the first half, Butler led Pirates 24-7.

The Lady Grizzlies had a hard time finding the basket in the second quarter only scoring four points, which helped Indy come back within 10 points with Butler leading 28-18 at half. Into the third quarter, Butler built their lead 36-19 with just under four minutes left in the third. By the end of the third, the women led 44-29.

Butler finished off the Pirates in the fourth with the Lady Grizzlies winning 55-37. Butler shot 19 of 68 with a 27.9 field goal percentage. Finished with 44 rebounds, eight assists and 12 turnovers. Butler sits alone at fourth place in the conference, just one game out of third place.
