Jimmy’s Egg is the brand-new addition to the El Dorado community. The breakfast and lunch place opened on Monday, April 10th marking a new day for El Dorado.

The food choices are all you can expect from hash browns to omelets. Going into Jimmy’s Egg, I was greeted with a smile and told to sit myself. I choose to sit in their bar area, so I could get a good look at how clean the kitchen was. While they haven’t been open long, you could tell that, with how busy they are, they keep the kitchen in tip top shape especially for the morning rush.

Looking at the menu, I began to notice a theme. Every single item on the menu was under 10 dollars. This is key for a breakfast place that will need support of the college students in order to succeed. After contemplating what I wanted to eat, I saw something completely unusual. They had flavored pancakes. Flavors extended far beyond the normal chocolate chip and strawberry. With options that include Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, you can satisfy your sweet tooth with just that side of the menu. I decided that I would try just the standard pancakes for my first meal. The pancakes came with two slices of bacon and an egg. The food was, just as one would expect, wonderful. It was an odd paring of the egg and the cakes, but this is Jimmy’s Egg, and it is expected that everything would be served with the choice egg.

Jimmy’s Egg didn’t seem to miss a single item that you would think to find at breakfast place. Honestly, the only thing that I can complain about is its hours. Open from six a.m. to two p.m. you are not given a big window to enjoy this well needed addition to the El Dorado community. Most people probably are not going to get up every day at 6:30 a.m. to go eat breakfast, and not being open after two p.m. cuts out a lot of people who love to eat breakfast for dinner, forcing them to go far from local restaurant, to an iHOP in Wichita, or unfortunately a Denny’s.

Overall, Jimmy’s Egg is an outstanding place to go get breakfast early in the morning. With the inexpensive prices and an early opening, it can be a perfect addition to your morning routine. Jimmy’s Egg earns a seven out of 10, good for food, not great for hours.
