As a child of a professor, I have seen how much time, effort, dedication and self-education goes into preparing for a class. Butler is our home away from home. I invite you to show respect to our professors by showing up to class on time and well prepared. Let us take advantage of the student consultation time that every professor offers.

We have chosen to go to college to better ourselves, so we can then better our communities and better the world. With so much turmoil in the United States and the whole world, it is our responsibility to take our education more seriously than ever. We must be able to analyze information in order to make informed decisions that could change the course of history, such as electing leaders that protect everyone’s freedoms and do their best to maintain peace. Professors help us learn the necessary skills to do that and much more.

Teaching professionals hold so much power because they shape the future of this world. They do not use insults or weapons, but rather lead us into better understanding our rights, responsibilities and opportunities in changing the world for the best. They help us students cultivate an open mind and be able to communicate with those who are different than ourselves. They allow us to express our opinions, concerns, and responses in a manner that makes sense to others. They show us that there are all kinds of people and places, and we are more alike than we think. For this reason, we should make an immense effort to do the best we can in all of our classes and allow our professors to give us as much information and new knowledge as possible. We should ask as many questions as we can think of and always try to look at all views on every subject. We should try to listen to the views of others, especially those who are not similar to us. Empower yourself and empower those around you. Hatred has no place in Butler (or anywhere else).
