Butler Community College, like any other college in the state, wants students to succeed. Whether it is through the classroom environment or on the football field, Butler wants the best for its incoming students. Skilled students such as athletes that are recruited to come here can be offered the incentive of a books and tuition scholarship.
“Currently, we only offer one type of athletic scholarship,” Associate Athletic Director Matt Jacobs said. “Books and Tuition as regulated by current KJCCC by law…“
Butler Community College also offers Fine Arts scholarships, and it is the same scholarship offered to the athlete. To audition the program needs auditions via video before Saturday, March 10, 2018.
Fine Arts scholarships do not just cover the Vocal Music programs, but also the theater program. Audition for our Performance Theater scholarship with a resume of one’s past works in plays and audition with a couple of memorized solo works. Want to work in more of a production environment? Butler offers that as well. The Technical Theater scholarship deals with stage management, costuming and set design.
“We’re pleased that we can offer about 30 scholarships,” Professor of Theater and Speech Bob Peterson said.
Butler is also home to a Mass Communications department. The Mass Communications department is where students can audition to receive scholarships and work with the newspaper, The Grizzly magazine, Student Sports Media, the Butler T.V. department and 88.1 The Grizz Radio department.
When it comes to art, Butler offers a books and tuition scholarship which is awarded through the Art department. When speaking to Art Lecturer Trisha Coates, we asked about how many scholarships are offered through the art department.
“We offer 13 full books and tuition scholarships,” Coates said.
A Coutts scholarship is available for art students. The Art department also has cash consideration scholarships that they can offer through the Coutts scholarship.
These are only a few of the scholarships that are offered at Butler. Finding a scholarship here can be easy if a student is looking in the right places and has the right skills. These scholarships can be hard, some are like a full-time job, but if it is something that one loves it can turn into a career for them. Butler wants us all to succeed equally, and offering these types of opportunities show us really what options we have.
