
The Grizzlies took on Barton on Wednesday, Aug. 30 in a home game at the Power Plant. The Ladies won 3-1 of the sets.

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, the Butler Grizzlies volleyball team played at home against Barton Community College, a good sized crowd. They took a win (25-20, 21-25, 25-11, 25-23).
“I knew they had to play one step ahead,” Coach Rick Younger said.
Sophomore Brooke Fender had 15 kills, and freshman Claudia Hess had 10 kills.
“It was the first time we played at home for all of us,” Brooke Fender said. “We played aggressive and were excited for our win.”
“The excitement we have is great, knowing it was going to be close, the outcome was so exciting,” Hess said.
This game help improved the season record to being 4-1.
On Friday Aug. 25 through Saturday, Aug. 26, the volleyball team was in Vernon, Texas. They played four teams, winning against North Lake College Texas (25-22, 25-20, 25-19), Labette (25-18, 25-17, 25-19), and Clarendon College (25-11, 24-26, 25-19, 24-26, 15-13).
Against Clarendon, sophomore Aliyah Bernard led the team with nine kills, and seven blocks and Fender added nine kills, three aces and 10 digs. Sophomore setter Andie Nibarger had 18 assists.
Butler lost all three sets against Trinity Valley Community College (27-25, 25-17, 28-26).
Hess played hard, having nine kills, and sophomore Abby Goodrum had 14 digs.
Butler won their first conference opener since 2013. It is also the first time since 2015 they won a match against Barton.
The Grizzlies will now travel to Colby on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 6:30 p.m.
