Butler Community College offers many different kinds of on-campus jobs to students who are enrolled in at least one credit hour at Butler.
Most employers on campus will allow student workers some free time to work on homework. Working on campus is a better choice because they will work around students’ class schedules.
“I would recommend working on campus because they are very flexible with your classes and will work around your class schedule,” sophomore Brittany Hett said who works as a daycare teacher
The bookstore asks for a variety of requirements for students such as being friendly, courteous and outgoing, a willingness and flexibility to help out during peak times and easier requirements. On-campus employers look for various aspects when looking for potential student workers. Melody Doyal, the bookstore supervisor, also realizes that student success is a fundamental component to the bookstore. Schedules are adjusted around class and activity schedules as they change each semester.
According to Bailee Wallace, there are more advantages to working on campus other than working off. If a student works on campus, he or she won’t need to drive anywhere. Students will not need to miss any classes for an on-campus job, and most jobs will allow students to have time to study or work on homework while they are working.
“Yes, I would recommend working on campus because it allows you to be more involved and because they will work around your class schedule,” freshman Bailee Wallace said, who works as an Admissions Ambassador, said.
On-campus jobs also offer students a work study or a paycheck. Both Hett and Wallace work for a paycheck, but other students choose to have a work study. By using work study, students can receive help based on their financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay for education expenses.
Most of on-campus jobs are already filled, but it will change each semester because students graduate, transfer or getting another job.
