Grizzlies baseball continues to take their season to another level

Butler Grizzlies baseball continues to succeed with their season.

On Thursday, March 8, Garden City traveled to Butler for a double-header. Butler took a victory sweep, winning 5-4 in the first game, and 12-11 in the second, this time in extra innings. Sophomore Alex Brough had both a home run and a double in the first contest.
In the second game, freshman Keone Givens hit a triple in the 6th inning, driving in a run. Three Grizzlies hit home runs in game two, freshman Javier Pena, sophomore Conner Hurst and freshman Parker Base.

On Saturday, March 10, Butler traveled to Garden City, and the Grizzlies took another double-header victory. In the first game, Butler won 8-2 with a double by freshman Jack Maki and also a triple by Javier Pena.

In the second game, the Grizzlies kept the victory streak with a win, 13-7. Three doubles were hit by sophomore Jackson Soule, Alex Brough and Garrett Chalker. Pena added a triple to the box score.

On Thursday, March 15, the Grizzlies traveled to Hutchison. Butler lost the first game 14-10, despite three home runs by freshmen Patrick Bethea, Brough and Chalker.

In the second game Butler lost 15-10, having three doubles by Bethea, Givens and freshman Parker Base. Hurst also had a home run.

On Saturday, March 17, the Grizzlies had a doubleheader at home against Hutchison. The first game Butler won 5-4, with a double by Bethea and a home run by freshman Joshua Cox.

The second game, Butler took a turn and lost 5-4. They had one home run by Hurst.

On Thursday, March 22, Butler traveled to Pratt for a double header. In the first game, Butler lost 7-2, with a double by Mason Goade.

In the second game, the Grizzlies took a victory over Pratt 12-10. Butler had two doubles by Givens and Soule, followed by a triple by Bethea.

On Saturday, March 24, Butler had a doubleheader at home against Pratt. In the first game, Butler won 5-4.

In the second game, Butler continued their victory streak 7-5. A double by Chalker, and two homeruns by Pena and Hurst highlighted Butler’s offensive side of the game.

The Butler Grizzlies are now 19-9 overall, 11-5 in the Jayhawk Conference.
