Glimpses of sunlight dance across your room

As we lay, silent.

I wake up first, watching your chest rise and fall.

Sometimes I think your snores are my favorite sound,

And at night with my head on your chest,

Your heartbeat becomes my favorite lullaby.

Before you, I used to hate Mondays

Now they’re something I look forward to.

Still asleep, you roll over,

Reaching for me.

Your arms around me feels like the strongest fortress

Safety surrounds me.

Half asleep you whisper

“I love you”

It is then that it hits me.

I never would have imagined that

“home” would be a synonym for

you.
