When stargazing, I see the occasional shooting star and think of the incredibly unlikely odds of seeing one. What are the chances of something so small coming into contact with the Earth, a grain of sand compared to the vastness of space, at the exact moment I look up to the sky. How many more flashes go unnoticed because no one was looking?

If we aren’t even observant enough to see these flashes, how ignorant are we to other flashes happening on our own soil? What accomplishments by people go unnoticed because no one was observing? The acts of heroism, inventiveness and inspiration that never enter history because no one was there to record it.

What stories are out there just waiting to have a listener?

And instead of being that listener, I’m just laying here looking at the sky spark on occasion.
