Hello, my name is Amanda Smith, and I am a freshman at Butler this year. I wrote for my high school newspaper in Conway Springs, and now I’m a member of the Butler Lantern newspaper staff. While I’m here at Butler, I will be working towards getting a degree in social work. I avoid talking about myself at all costs, so this is a difficult task.
I grew up in Conway Springs with seven siblings, three brothers and four sisters. My hobbies include wallowing in self pity, listening to music and engaging with my social media followers. One thing I am interested in is sports, whether it be college of professional. The teams I follow include the Kansas State Wildcats, Chicago Cubs and Washington Redskins. I also played high school volleyball for four years and basketball for three.
My talents include the ability to quote the entire movie of Shrek, reference almost any Vine and spending unnecessary amounts of money on new shoes. I am also a feminist and may end up minoring in women’s studies in the future.
I am very excited about this school year and writing for the Butler Lantern!
