Tent America 2018 is apart of the Awaken the Dawn organization, created to spread prayer and worship all across the nation. Each capital from every state is participating in the event, and many colleges across the nation participate as well.
The movement was first created in 2017 at the National Mall in Washington D.C.. That event had about 50,000 people show up to worship and pray. The event was also broadcasted on Facebook live and nearly four million people across the globe watched the event from their location. This event was never meant to be the only one as it was created to start the Jesus Movement. Awaken the Dawn has worked hard in trying to spread this event all across the nation, according to AwakentheDawn.org. They are hoping that this event will still be ongoing in years to come.
CRU, Christian Crusade, a student organization, has decided to set up a tent on campus to participate in the event. There is a sign up for one or two hours that students can sign up for during the event. There are a few who are signed up that are not on campus and will travel to the event to participate, a few musical instruments people can use to worship with music will be available.
Tent America 2018 took place on the El Dorado campus in front of the Student Union, also known as the 1000 Building. The project began on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. until Saturday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m.. “We are really excited to see what the turn out will be for the event,” Gigi Dudeck, an organizer, said.
Butler students were encouraged to donate their time and energy to the project. If you would like to volunteer your time to the project contact HopeInHim8@yahoo.com. People who worship and pray are needed to attend the event. To be apart of the event, you do not have to be a member of CRU.
