Butler’s Headliners gave a resounding performance at the Kansas State Fair on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Before they began their performance, Professor of Vocal Music Valerie Mack invited alumni to come to the stage and sing the National Anthem with the current Headliners.
They started “From Page to Stage” with the entire Headliners performing “Welcome to Wonderland” and “Be the Hero of Your Story” by Big Fish.
Interspersed between the Headliner performances were showings by the male quartet Smorgaschords and female quartet Noteables.
Later in the show, the Smorgaschords and Noteables broke out into the full male and female headliners to perform “Men in Tights” and “Dance With Me Tonight” by Olly Murs respectfully.
The Headliners then ended their show with a performance of “Night Fever” by Bee Gees, which had the entire crowd bouncing to the beat.
The entire performance by the Headliners was an impressive display of skill. Being student performers, mistakes are bound to happen, but they were few and far between and did not distract from the rest of the show. And the song selection kept the energy going throughout the entire show.
The Headliners’ shows are a must see for anyone who is able to make it to one of their shows. The Headliners will perform “From Page to Stage” again at Butler on Friday, Oct. 12 and Saturday, Oct. 13 from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
