Education
Greg Orman, who is running as an independent gubernatorial candidate, plans to bring education in Kansas back to, and beyond, adequate funding levels. Orman believes in the importance of public education and is open to innovation through technology in education to improve the system. He also supports private education but will not take away from public education by funding these private institutions.
Taxes
Orman believes that former Gov. Sam Brownback’s tax plan was a mistake and wants to work towards pointing Kansas back into the right direction. In an attempt to bounce back from the plan, Orman understands that this requires rehabilitating agencies that suffered during his plan and maintaining a stable tax policy until that is done.
Second Amendment
Orman is a proud gun owner but still believes that more responsible laws are needed regarding firearms. He would like to strengthen the background check system and eliminate the holes in the mental health and law enforcement reporting systems. Orman would also consider raising the age to 21 to buy any military-style, semi-automatic rifle and would require additional training in these weapons. High-capacity magazines and other accessories that allow weapons to be more lethal would also be prohibited under Orman.
