Education
Laura Kelly, the democratic gubernatorial candidate, has always been a supporter of children and families, so it is not surprising that she intends to improve the state’s public school system and support early childhood education programs.
If elected, she intends to increase school funds and provide the best possible education for all students. She will also address the rising tuition rates and help make universities more affordable for Kansas students.
Taxes
Kelly plans to reverse former Gov. Sam Brownback tax cuts, which led to shrinking revenue and a slow economy. If elected, she will reestablish the balance between sales, income and property taxes to better the economy and reinvest in the departments and services whose funding was cut.
Second Amendment
Kelly also believes that students should not go to school afraid for their lives. For this reason, she plans to take the necessary steps to implement common sense gun laws and keep people safe.
She has suggested some safeguards, such as requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning bump stocks and limiting civilian access to weapons that are designed for war.
