New dean excited about making an impact

Christy Streeter can speak four languages, and she owns a small farm with her family in Rose Hill. More specifically though, she has been named the new dean of Student Health Services and Public Safety at Butler. She oversees areas of criminal justice, nursing, Educare and fitness and wellness. Before becoming dean of this division, she served as the associate dean. Streeter has worked at Butler for four years and has an office on the El Dorado campus.

Streeter went through several steps in the interview process in order to be promoted to head dean of her division.

“I went through a pretty lengthy interview process,” Streeter said.

Streeter said there are several important responsibilities she has as dean. One of her responsibilities that she describes is the importance of her relationship to the faculty and the students.

“I want people to make sure I’m approachable,” Streeter said.

She talked about how her responsibilities as dean of her division will be to guide instructors under her leadership.

“My responsibilities as dean are to minimize the road blocks instructors have,” Streeter said.

When she is not working at Butler, she has other hobbies and interesting things she enjoys. Previously it is mentioned that besides her work at Butler, Streeter can speak four other languages besides English.

“I speak English, Spanish, Mandarin, Chinese and Cantonese,” Streeter said.

On her farm in Rose Hill, there are animals like chickens and goats.

“It’s a little mini farm,” Streeter said.

Overall when it comes to her work as a dean, Streeter talks about how passionate she is about her work. She also describes how strongly she believes in the work of the division she oversees.

“I really believe strongly in the work of the HP (Health and Public Safety Division) and division and providing great work for our faculty,” Streeter said.
