Parents are still afraid, or refuse to vaccinate their kids. It’s 2018: come on.
Get your children vaccinated to prevent them from suffering from deadly illnesses. It’s that easy people. Stop believing in old sayings passed down by grandma. They were raised in a different time period, and there have been updates to medical techonolgy to combat viruses.

Many parents say or have been told by old relatives or grown up believing that vaccines cause ADD or ADHD because the vaccines use a type of mercury. The mercury used is called thimerosal. According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a scientist named Andrews and his colleagues performed thimerosal vaccines on about 110,000 children in their first six months of life. They found out that the thimerosal filled vaccine did not cause ADD or ADHD.

There was a recent potential outbreak of varicella also known as chickenpox in a private school in Douglas County in Kansas. This potential outbreak occurred between Tuesday, May 22 and Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Eleven children, ranging in age from one to nine years, were exposed to the disease. Of those exposed, seven were exposed at school and four were exposed at home. Ten of the eleven did not receive a shot becasue their parents refused to, two had medical contradictions and one child had the chickenpox was not diagnosed by a medial provider.

Kansas law requires that children be vaccinated if they are attending public school. Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis require five doses. Dose one is at two months, dose two is at four months, dose three is at six months, dose four is at 15-18 months and dose five is before they enter kindergarten. Poliomyelitis requires four doses. Dose one: two months, dose two: four months, dose three: six-eight months and dose four: before entering kindergarten. Measles, Mumps and Rubella require two doses. Dose one: 12-15 months and dose two: before entering kindergarten. Hepatitis B requires three doses. Dose one: given at birth, Dose two: two months and dose three six-18 months. Varicella also known as chicken pox requires two doses. Dose one:12-15 months and dose two: before entering kindergarten.

The Educare, Butler’s daycare located on the El Dorado campus, needs all of the vaccines that public schools need too.

In the end, just get your kids vaccinated, so there are no deadly outbreaks just because of old sayings or refusing to vaccinate based on fear and ignorance.
