The Fire Science department at Butler Community College and the El Dorado firefighters shaved their heads for the month of October to show support for National Cancer Awareness month.

The idea was brought up by El Dorado Fire Department Crew C. The Crew has eight participating members: Captain Troy Jellison, Shane McCoy, Sam Wheeler, Grayson Pryce, Caleb Fister and three Butler students, Skylar Akins, sophomores Scott Slack and Cole Davis.

Davis’s grandfather has skin cancer and has battled it for five years now.

“The whole idea was based for Cancer Awareness, not just one certain Cancer but all Cancer,” Davis said. “All of us has a certain person in mind, but the person I was doing this for is my grandfather.
