Men pull themselves out of a drought

The Men’s Butler Grizzlies Basketball team traveled to Ottumwa, Iowa to participate in the Financial Partners Classic at the Hellyer Center for the two-day event on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3. The Grizzlies did not have the best start to the season as they lost to the Indian Hill Warriors, 103-67, as the Grizzlies were 33.3 percent from the field. The next day they played against the Marshalltown Tigers, but lost once again, 77-59.
Butler opened their home schedule Monday, Nov. 5 defeating Friends University JV, 89-56.

Freshman forward Juwan White came up big for Butler as he had 12 points, six rebounds and he went 5-5 from the free throw-line. Freshman Tyrone Cooley had 11 points and eight rebounds. Cooley was one of the top rebounders last night as was freshman power forward Mohamed Fofana who also had eight rebounds. Freshmen shooting guard Kamron Brice and point guard Jon’il Fugett scored 10 points. On Monday, Nov. 5, Butler did well rebounding the ball, out rebounding Friends, 41 to 21. Butler suffered from the free throw line, only making 10 of 24 free throws. Butler had 17 turnovers.

“I thought we were sloppy in the first half turning the ball over way too many times,” Head Coach Brian Miller said.

The men’s basketball team traveled to Hesston, Kansas to take on the Larks on their home court Wednesday, Nov. 7.
