The L.W. Nixon Library and SGA hosted the library international game night on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Board games such as Ticket to Ride, Tic-Tac-Toe and Breakout Education were available to play from 1 to 4 p.m. Students could also play Fortnite at a video game tournament from 6 to 9 p.m.
Ruth Harries, a Public Service Librarian, explained that she hoped students had a fun time.
“I hope students come away from this having had fun and having some games to play with their friends,” Harries said.
Harries explained that having SGA help host this event will bring up the attendance this year.
“We’ve done it in the past, but we haven’t had a ton of participation … I think part of that was the library doing it on their own, so I’m hoping that with SGA helping out with the marketing and the participation this year,” Harries said.”
SGA member Ahtziri Roetzer came to the library to participate in the event, and she explained how she thought it would be a good way to get more involved.
“To get more involved and not always be stuck in your room doing homework,” Roetzer said.
Sophomore music major Katalina Campos came to the library with her friends to spend some quality time together.
“We wanted to have fun and bond as one,” Campos said. “We just saw the flyer, and we were like alright, let’s go have some fun.”
