Tyler’s hot cold takes!!! A swan song

Winter is upon us, ladies and gentlemen, and 2018 is almost in the past. As for my hot takes this year, I haven’t exactly been… well for a lack of better words… hot. I know, I know, we were riding high off the Jaguars’ pick last year, and the Yankees pick early in the year. But after doubling down on the Jaguars, Blake Bortles and a Kevin Durant MVP, I have found myself in a hole. Since I’m shooting a solid .500 over my hot takes career, and since this will be the last iteration of this beloved column, I’m just going to take a win. Think of this as a filler game like Alabama vs Arkansas State. I deserve it: It’s my swan song.

Brace yourselves for this wave of frozen fire. The Los Angeles Rams are… Brace yourselves… going to win… make sure you are ready for this… the NFC… West… Yes, the NFC West. I know it will be a stretch with the resurgence of Seattle as an actual opponent, and Josh Rosen kind of looking like he knows what he is doing. It seems crazy to put this much faith in a team that had to score 54 points to win a game against a Chief’s team that only has a second year quarterback. Jarod Goff was the No. 1 overall pick, and he should be able to outduel the rest of his scheduled QB matchups. Mitchell Trubisky: bust; Mathew Stafford: overrated; Carson Wentz: there is a reason Goff got drafted before him; Josh Rosen: I’ll take the better California boy in Goff; Nick Mullens: this being a week 17 matchup, I doubt that Goff will play, but if he did this would be the one match up that could test Goff.

I just think that it’s a fact, that while the Rams are nowhere near the best team in the NFL, that they have a chance to take a surprisingly tough division.

I think it goes without saying, that obvious sarcasm is obvious.
With that out of the way, I’d like the last 100 words that I am allowed to write with to thank the multiple staffs that I’ve worked with over the last five semesters. Most of all, I’d like to thank my editors in chronological order: Haley Smith, Tori Lemon and Rachel McClurg. A big thank you to my Adviser Amy Chastain for giving me a scholarship and a platform to force my bad takes upon the masses. Writing for the Butler Lantern has been one the best things to happen to me on my road through life, and I am excited to see where my future takes me. Adios muchachos: It’s been fun.
