The Grizzlies blew an 11 point halftime lead to Cowley County on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and fell to the Tigers 68-61. The Grizzlies came into the game after losing their last two games to Independence and Neosho.

The first half looked to give the Grizzlies the advantage, as they jumped out to an early 17-6 lead aided by breakaway slam dunks by freshmen guards Immanuel Allen and Kameron Brice. The Grizzlies would continue to hold the Tigers in single digits until Tiger Guard Deng Bol layed the ball in to put Cowley over the double digit threshold, but still trailed 26-11 with 7:45 left in the first half.

The Grizzlies carried a 32-21 lead into the half, with freshman Mohamed Fofana coming off the bench and scoring 13 points in the first half.

The Grizzlies would hold onto their lead throughout the second half, until the five minute mark in the second half. Deng hit a three-point shot to give Cowley their first lead of the game, 50-49.

From there on out, it was all Cowley as the Grizzlies dropped their third home game this season. Butler fell to 13-9 on the season with a 6-7 conference record.
Allen led Butler scorers with 16 points, Fofana not far behind with 15. Both Allen and Fofana would foul out during the second half and would not enter the game again.
Bol led the Tigers with 20 points and and six rebounds.

The Grizzlies took Coffeyville Red Ravens on Saturday, Feb. 2 to try and get their season back on track.

“Next week, we need to guard the perimeter against Coffeyville,” Coach Daven Ho. “They have four players shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc, and we really need to lock them down.”
