In honor of Earth Day, which always falls on April 22, and to remind students and faculty of their role in the earth’s conservation, Sophomore Jaedn Cooper hosted “Every day is Earth Day” with the help of Sophomore Mo Rutledge and Freshman Bayley Rogers on Monday, April 15.

Cooper also got encouragement and help setting up from a few other friends, including freshman Angel Vega.

“I knew how important this event was for her, so I was so glad that she asked me to be a part of it,” Vega said. “I think she will be very successful in life, and this event was just one minor thing to help her succeed.”

Students and faculty members gathered at the basketball courts on the BOE campus with a piece of litter from campus in exchange for a flower pot. They then decorated their pots with provided painting materials and planted their choice of flower or succulent in their newly decorated pot.

Planting flowers and plants seems like something small and unimportant, but it helps get students involved in gardening, which plays a big role in caring for the environment. Starting small habits like this can have a bigger impact in the long run, and you may even develop new hobbies along the way.
