As of Monday, April 15, Kyle Fisher has been named the new head coach for the Butler Men’s Basketball team.
“Butler CC is very special place, and one of the best conferences in the country,” Head Coach Kyle Fisher said. “I really feel like the resources and people are in place to run a championship level program consistently.”
Fisher was an assistant coach for the Coffeyville Red Ravens for seven seasons under Head Coach Jay Herkelman, the winningest coach in KJCCC history. The Red Ravens had a great 2018-19 season, ranked third in the nation with a 31-4 record, 20-2 conference record and won the Jayhawk East Conference title in the regular season. They were in the National Tournament in Hutchinson as the fourth seed and made an appearance in the Final Four.
“I’ve been coaching for 12 years now.” Fisher said. “All my experiences have prepared me for this opportunity. I am very well aware what it takes to win at a high level and what it takes to win championships. Our track record during my time in Coffeyville speaks for itself and I’ll look forward to bringing that same mentality up here to Butler and trying to rebuild the foundation of this program.”
After his four years in Washburn as a graduate assistant, Fisher was a top assistant coach at Southwestern (Iowa) for two seasons. After Southwestern, he was a top assistant coach for Eastern Arizona for two seasons before heading to Coffeyville.
Fisher has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washburn and a master’s degree in sports administration from Central Missouri.
He is joined in El Dorado by his wife, Kathryn and daughter, Grace.
