Jordan Cornell
Lantern Staff

My name is Jordan Cornell, and I am a freshman at Butler. This is my first year at the Butler Lantern, and I am very excited to be writing this year. I worked on the high school newspaper for almost my whole high school career. Some of my favorite things to do are to watch history shows and hangout with my neighbors. I also enjoy reading, I really like Star Wars, video games, superhero movies, and zombie movies. A fun fact about me is that I am named after Michael Jordan, tying into that I also like basketball, but baseball is my favorite sport, specifically the Red Sox.

Hi, my name is Maddison Farris, and I am super excited to be joining the Butler Lantern this year as a reporter. I am a freshman, but I have been taking classes at Butler Community College for the past two semesters for high school dual credit, both online and face-to-face. I was homeschooled throughout my entire high school career, and I am looking forward to furthering my education with Butler. I am loving the independence of living in the dorms and meeting new people is always awesome. I have always had a passion for writing, and I hope to one day be a published author.

Hola, my fabulous name is Jordan Plowman. This is my first year here at Butler Community College studying mass communications with an emphasis on photography. I was head photographer for our newspaper and yearbook at Wichita High School East for two years. I have attended two Kansas School Press Association conferences, one in Dallas and another one in Chicago. I have five cats at home between my family ranging from six years old to 16 years old. Since kindergarten, I have also lived and breathed Girl Scouts and still do to this day as a lifetime member.

Madeline Owens
Lantern Staff

As a freshman this year, I am super excited to be living in the dorms and starting a new chapter in my life. I graduated from Gardner Edgerton High School last spring. I came to Butler, so I could learn independence and take general education courses. My hometown is Edgerton, a small town in northeast Kansas. My bearded dragon, Rodney, lives back in Edgerton, and he’s been my little buddy since I started high school. During my free time, which is rare during the school year, I enjoy writing, crochet, painting and watching Netflix. I also love to hang out with my friends and go shopping.

Maya Hall
Lantern Staff

Hi there! My name is Maya, and I am a freshman this year at Butler. At my high school, Wichita East, I was a photographer for the yearbook, and now I have the privilege of being on the Butler Lantern staff. My favorite thing to take pictures of is sports, especially since it is great to get to watch games from the sidelines, and baseball is probably my favorite because I play softball. I am working on getting better at writing since I am a newbie to this, but I am excited to try and do my best this year.

Madalynn Wilson
Lantern Staff

Hello, I am Madalynn Wilson, and I am a freshman at Butler this year. I wrote for the Pratt Tribune, my hometown newspaper as a sports reporter and worked on my high school yearbook and newspaper. I am studying dance at Butler, but I am not sure what I would like to do in that area yet.

I was born and raised in Pratt and have one younger brother. I was in three musicals in high school and choreographed two of them: “Phantom of the Opera” and “Oklahoma”. In my free time I like to read books. My favorite is “The Sun is Also A Star” by Nicola Yoon. I also spend a lot of time watching YouTube, Netflix and Hulu.

Hi! My name is Lexi, and I am a sophomore here at Butler, studying mass communications. I graduated from Campus High School and grew up in the Haysville area. I have a younger brother and the most supportive friends and family that you can imagine. In my free time, I can be found reading, writing, listening to music or running. I also like to watch basketball and football whenever I can. I do have favorite teams, but I also just love to see the talent that many players possess. I am looking forward to writing for the Butler Lantern this semester.
