El Dorado welcomes Jimmy John’s, a new menu option for sandwich and gourmet sack lunch lovers and a quick addition for some new flavors for locals to enjoy.
For this issue’s report of “This Week in El Dorado,” I visited Jimmy John’s, the newest addition to El Dorado’s food platter. For this review, I went to Jimmy John’s, and during my visit I made an effort to pay attention to various aspects of the restaurant including customer service, food quality and cleanliness.
The customer service was phenomenal. The employees were very friendly and patient when I changed my mind multiple times. They had upbeat music playing, which made for a fun and uplifting atmosphere.
After ordering I sat down at a table and waited maybe eight minutes before an employee brought my meal to my table instead of calling a number, and happily returned to the counter to grab a to-go bag since I forgot to specify.
The sandwich was an eight-inch sub with ham, cheese, lettuce, pickles, mustard and mayonnaise, and it cost $5.55, which is a nice price, but I got the meal which included a bag of chips and a drink, and that brought my total to $9.05. This would typically be out of my budget, but I did enjoy the meal.
The sandwich tasted amazing, almost homemade thanks to their phenomenal french bread and the store provides Coke products, so I was happy to enjoy a nice Coca-Cola. Jimmy John’s bread is their best quality.
You might be wondering, “Why shouldn’t I just stick to Subway?” Well, a footlong sub at Subway is only $5.50. That’s five cents less for four more inches of sub. A meal including chips and a drink at Subway totals at $9.55.
By now, Jimmy John’s has only been in El Dorado since Tuesday, July 9, and finishing touches on the restaurant are still taking place. I found myself curious and decided to meet with Jay Shivers, the city planner of El Dorado, to see what the process looked like for a new restaurant chain to move into the city.
“… in the city of El Dorado, we try to be very development friendly; we try to make the process really easy, very streamline, but every project is different,” Shivers said.
Shivers also explained that the city of El Dorado does what it can to keep entrepreneurship as streamline and simple as possible, giving business owners an easier time setting up shop in this town. I’m sure that this approach has helped the city’s growth and market.
Overall, Jimmy John’s is a great sandwich shop with reasonable prices, phenomenal taste and it was very clean with friendly staff and a popping aesthetic. I highly recommend stopping by for lunch or going out with some friends for a simple, but tasty evening meal.
