The opening performance for the band takes place Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium inside the 700 building. The show will feature three large bands: concert, jazz and show band and two smaller ensembles: clarinet and brass. They are set to feature a large variety of music that promises to have something for everybody.
“Everybody is going to hear something that is probably in their comfort zone of what they like to listen to,” Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Brett Martinez said. “The neat thing about the Butler band program is that we get students from so many different band programs that come from different musical backgrounds. The challenge and the fun part of the Butler bands is that we get to take all of that and make that into the Butler’s band traditions.
The performance promises to be a cannot-miss event. Many of these students are involved in multiple bands and have been working diligently for this concert and want what they have been doing to be showcased
“I am excited anytime I get to perform,” freshman band member Robert Hawkins said.
The concert is free to the public and to Butler students, but tickets must be reserved. Patrons can reserve tickets at the Box Office located in the 700 building or by calling the office at 316-322-3262.
