Many families came out for the Butler’s parent weekend to support the Butler Grizzlies against Fort Scott for their homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Veteran families and the Douglas Bulldog youth team set up grills and had food out for any friendly face to eat.
Games included spike-a-ball, cornhole, footballs to throw around and many other fun activities to do with friends and family.
The cheerleaders and the drumline greeted the incoming parents and the football players at the front lines. When they did a parade through the field on their way into the back entrance of the stadium.
At half-time, the 2019 Homecoming Court stepped out on the field for the crowning of the king and queen. President of Butler Community College Kim Krull presented the queen’s crown to Chloe Cope, a sophomore nursing major and Alex Recio, a sophomore pre-engineering major.
Both Cope and Recio were ecstatic and almost speechless when receiving their crowns.
“I am honestly so surprised,” Cope said. “This feels really cool. It is such an honor to be able to say I am the homecoming queen of Butler Community College [2019].”
“It is a huge honor and very exciting, feeling very blessed to be the homecoming king of Butler [Community College 2019],” Recio agreed.
The Butler Grizzlies won with all the support and love from the crowd at the homecoming game against Fort Scott, 10-7.
