In Texas, the Butler Grizzlies volleyball team started off very strong with two wins to start the season in the Vernon College Classic, beating Lamar, Colorado College 3-0 and Trinity Valley, Texas College 3-2. After their strong start of the season, they then had lost five straight games, three being at home and two on the road. They then got back on track with a 3-1 win against McCook College from Nebraska.
They had a seven- game win streak, which included that win against McCook. In that sevengame win streak, Butler had their first conference win against Dodge City with a 3-0 sweep.
The Butler Grizzlies had a very positive season, but sadly, it came to an end when losing 3-1 against the Hutchinson Blue Dragons in the First Round of the Regional VI Tournament on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Butler finished their season on the road with an 8-8 record in their conference and an 18-12 record overall. Last year, they ended with the same conference record, but they did improve in their overall record by three matches.
The Butler Grizzlies will lose sophomores Montana Soderberg, Sydney Scanlon, Amalie Rupertova and Yoana Tsaneva.
With four players leaving, second-year Head Coach Lisa Lechtenberg and Assistant Coach Tessa Cosby will bring new talent into the Grizzlies team to have another winning season and keep all of the Butler volleyball fans excited for these next few years to come.
