When to start decorating for Christmas is something that many people have strong opinions one some people like to start decorating as soon as Halloween is over, while some people wait until a few weeks before Christmas. Some stores even start putting out Christmas decorations as early as August.

Personally, I think waiting until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas fits best because I like to enjoy the fall decor as long as I can before I get into the winter spirit.

The only problem I have with getting into the Christmas spirit directly after Halloween is that I like to buy Halloween and fall decor after the holiday when it’s on sale, but this year when I went to the store onFriday, Nov. 1, all of the Halloween decor was gone and completely replaced with Christmas decor.
This may be heaven for those who love to decorate early, but for someone who shops on a budget and wants to find good sales, it is far from that for me.

I also get easily tired of the same Christmas songs playing on repeat when I’m at the grocery store or when I’m driving to school, so I usually wait until December to listen to Christmas music, and even then I prefer waiting until the week of Christmas.

I have nothing against those who decorate as soon as Halloween ends, but you probably won’t find me doing that. I will wait until after Thanksgiving, so I can fully enjoy the fall and all of its beautiful colors before I get into the Christmas mood, and so that I don’t get tired of Christmas music and décor before it’s even started.

I think that if you want to start decorating for Christmas the day after Halloween then you should, and if you want to wait until after Thanksgiving then you should, just please don’t start an argument about who is right or wrong with their decisions on Facebook.
