Good Girls on Netflix should be named “Bad Girls”, but the show is just too good. At first, there is nothing wrong with three ‘normal’ moms living happy lives, but then one stupid mistake turns into a wild ride.
Beth Boland (Christina Hendricks), Ruby Hill (Retta) and Annie Marks (Mae Whitman) live in the range of middle class. Beth makes the best PA meeting higher middle class mom, while her sister, Annie tries to get by as a single mother working as a cashier. Ruby tries to get by as a waitress in the local dinner, and her husband is a mall cop, together on their combined meager salaries support two growing children. Ruby’s daughter is fighting with all her might against her failing kidneys but needs a transplant to survive.
The story starts off simple. All three families get by with what they can, but when money becomes too tight in each household, Beth, Annie and Ruby’s propose wild ideas to relieve them of their troubles. Ruby jokes about robbing the local grocery store, and Annie seconds the idea in joking terms, but when their financial situation becomes too real, their joke turns into a plan. The plan was a total success, but now they have the local gang on their back because the “Good Girls” stole the gang’s money.
Each episode has explosive twists and turns of their own ranging from within families or with their gang friend, Rio (Manny Montana). Every time a person thinks they know what is going on in the storyline, the writers turn the story around and upside down on its head. Everytime the world is calm, something throws the “Good Girls” into the sewer.
The show is filled with romantic and plain out lust that fuels betrayal and an underlying thrill. Characters in Good Girls should hide all the knives because there is not a moment that someone is not willing to backstab another. Throughout the three seasons on Netflix, the “Good Girls” rob, wash fake money, cheat, lie and conspire in murder. This TV show is quite binge worthy so be prepared.
I give Good Girls a raging and a murderess five out of five for that fact that I could not stop watching. I personally got through all three seasons in four days, so “Good Girls” is definitely a must watch.
