The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many obvious issues beyond the concern of health. Among these issues is employment.

According to NBC News, over 16 million people in the United States have filed for unemployment, with every state being affected.

During these devastating economic times, it is important to band together and help whoever we can, however we can. Not all of us have the resources to help others financially, as some of us are among those who have lost jobs and are struggling to make ends meet when just a few months ago we had a steady income. But for those of us that have the means to help, it is important that we do.

There are many organizations that have been made specifically for COVID-19 relief, as well as many others that have been funded for years to help people who cannot afford things such and meals and clothes, but with the number of those in need rising, these organizations need help now more than ever.

Feeding America and Meals on Wheels are organizations that provide meals for those in need across the nation, donating even a small amount like $5 or $10 can help tremendously. You can make a donation at feedingamerica.org or mealsonwheelsamerica.org

For those who are old enough to drink, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have launched “Quarantine Wine,” and 100% of profits are being donated to COVID-19 relief. You can order two bottles of “Quarantine” Pinot Noir for $50 at officialquarantinewine.com

The Humane Society is a local organization that you may not think of when considering where to donate, but many families affected by unemployment have animals that they cannot afford to feed. The Kansas Humane Society is accepting donations of food and treats at their “Pet Supply Donation Drive,” donations can be left at the front doors and will be given to pet families in need. Monetary donations can also be made at kshumane.org

You can also donate personal protective equipment, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer to your local hospitals that are facing shortages.

This is a time of uncertainty and stress, and during times like these it is the most important to stand together and help those around us.
