While we were all out partying, working and going to different places, the track and field team was busy during spring break. On Saturday, March 19, the team traveled to the Bethel Open in Newton, racking up a couple of first place spots. Butler finished third in men’s competition with a score of 103 points, falling 47 points short of Tabor, who scored 150 and 111 points from first. Cloud was first with a score of 214 points. The women, however, got fourth place with a score of 55 points falling 55 points short from Bethel who scored 110 and 120 points from first. Cloud was first with a score of 175.
Rickey Golden got fourth place for Butler in men’s discus with his best distance being 33.32 feet in round one. His worst was 30.85 feet, which still would have earned fourth place.
Richard Newman got 4th place for Butler in men’s long jump with a distance of 6.46 feet with his worst being 6.27 feet. Steven Jacques got sixth place for Butler in men’s long jump with a distance of 6.30 feet.
Kirsten Jones, Kiara “Slim” Brown, Shawnakay Peart and Kaleb McDonald got first place for Butler in the women’s 4x 100m relay race with a time of 46.21 seconds and also gained 10 points. This just beat out Colby by 2.57 seconds.
Mark Doyley, Caleb Jackson, Dakari Carter and Morgan Jamison got first place for Butler in the men’s 4x 100m relay with a time of 40.44 seconds and a score of 10 points, just beating Cloud by 0.70 seconds.
Leyni Gomez got ninth place for Butler in the women’s 1,500 meter race with a time of five minutes and 42.57 seconds. This just beat out Emily Hankins who got 10th place for Butler, who had a time of five minutes and 42.99 seconds. Campbell Williams got 13th place in the women’s 1,500 meter race with a time of 6 minutes and 3.05 seconds, finishing just 1.78 seconds from 12th.
Zach Trotter got fifth place for Butler in the men’s 1,500 meter event in four minutes and 10.46 seconds.
David Niang scored first place in the men’s 110m hurdles in 14.82 seconds and 10 points.
Alexandra Cleveland was second for Butler in the women’s 400 meter race with a time of one minute and 1.03 seconds and eight points.
Valeur Muyoboke got sixth place for Butler in the men’s 400 meters in 51.05 seconds for three points.
Jones got first place in women’s 100 meter relay with a time of 12.14 seconds and 10 points. Ann Dangha was fourth for Butler in the women’s 100 meter race with a time of 12.52 seconds and five points. Hannah Simmons got sixth place for Butler in women’s 100 meters with a time of 12.88 seconds and three points. Hadassah Hampton was 8th for Butler in the women’s 100 meters with a time of 13.24 seconds.
Jamison got first place for Butler in the men’s 100 meter race with a time of 10.61 seconds and 10 points. Nazzio John was second in the men’s 100 meter race for Butler at 10.74 seconds and 8 points. Shawn Brown got third place for Butler in the men’s 100 meter race with a time of 10.74 seconds and six points. Carter got sixth place for Butler in the men’s 100 meter race with a time of 10.89 seconds and three points. Niang scored ninth place for Butler in the men’s 100 meter relay in 11.06 seconds. Doyley got 12th place for Butler in the men’s 100 meter relay with a time of 11.21 seconds.
Jared Sylvester was fourth for Butler in the men’s 800 meter race with a time of one minute and 58.03 seconds and five points. Mario Tullis got 6th in the men’s 800 meter race at two minutes and 1.09 seconds and three points.
Peart got first for Butler in the women’s 200 meter race at 24.53 seconds and 10 points. Dangha was second for Butler in the women’s 200 meter race with a time of 25.24 seconds and eight points.
JAMISON was first place for Butler in the men’s 200 meter race with a time of 21.49 seconds and 10 points. Caleb Jackson got second place for Butler in the men’s 200 meter race with a time of 21.53 seconds and eight points. Andy Williams was seventh place for Butler in the men’s 200 meters at 22.41 seconds and two points. Carter finished in 13th place for Butler in the men’s 200 meter race with a time of 22.92 seconds. Muyoboke got 22nd place for Butler in the men’s 200 meter race with a time of 24.73 seconds.
Muyoboke, Sylvester, Tullis and Trotter got second place for Butler in the men’s 4x 400m relay with a time of three minutes and 14.65 seconds and eight points.
